Assisted Living
Baker Park is a residence for older persons located in Bemidji, Minnesota. The facility is situated in a picturesque lakeside setting within a short distance of the downtown area with shopping, library, transportation, recreational facilities, and many churches nearby. It has easy bus access to the hospital, medical clinic, and shopping mall.
There are a variety of opportunities for senior citizens age 55+ to become involved in both the center and the community. The senior citizens center houses the Lutheran Social Service (LSS) Lunch Program, Meals on Wheels, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Senior Creations Gift Shop, the AARP Defensive Driving Course and the AARP Tax Assistance Program. On Monday mornings you can find the Card Ladies in the conference room making beautiful hand-made cards to sell in the lobby to raise money for the center. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons you will find senior citizens downstairs playing cards. During the week there is also senior aerobics, yoga, and Scrabble played every other Wednesday afternoon.

Cab service within a 50 mile radius of Bemidji. Passangers younger than 16 must be supervised. Cabs run from 5:00am- 2:00am with phones answered 5:00am-7:00pm. Call ahead for early morning pick ups or call when a ride is needed. $2.00 base + $2.50/mile

Running from 7:30 am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, the Bus can pick up and deliver children, adults, and young adults anywhere in Crookston, Thief River Falls, and Bagley including after school classes, or daycare, community events, recreation events, and entertainment activities. SERVING: Becker County Anyone Can Ride: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Passenger Assistance We will provide DOOR-TO-DOOR service to passengers with special needs. This means we will come to the door of your residence to assist you into our vehicle. (You must be at your door and ready to go).

Three and four wheeled mobility aids can be accommodated (must not exceed 30" in width, 48" in length, and 600 pounds when occupied). Two day advance notice recommended to secure reservations. Late-minute trips may be accommodated depending on availability. Fares are $1 for the cities of Parkers Prairie, Perham, and Pelican Rapids. Local fares within Fergus Falls are $1.50 per ride (correct change required), or $2.50 within 5 miles outside the city limits.

SERVING: Cass County Resident of Cass County Needs the service because no other transportation is available. This means that no one in the household is available to drive, or the person has no car or is not able to drive due to medical reasons. What trips does the program cover? Clinics, Doctors, Hospitals, Dentists, Chiropractors, and other medical trips. Grocery shopping (Once a week in the person's town). Banking, legal, Social Security, Social Services, etc. Any trips taken outside the service area (over 100 miles one way) must also be authorized. Is there a fee? The following fee schedule will be put into effect July 1, 2006: 1 - 90 Miles: $ 5.00 91 - 150 Miles: $ 8.00 151 - 200 Miles: $ 10.00 200 + Miles: $ 10.00 plus .10 for each additional mile (I.E. 250 Miles - $10.00 plus 50 x .10 = $15.00) We appreciate your support of this new fee structure to ensure the continued availablitiy of this valuable program!
